Biology Calculators
DNA Copy Number Calculator
Convert DNA concentration (ng/µL) and template length into copy number, and estimate DNA copies after PCR cycles.
This calculator converts nucleic acid concentration to copy number using DNA/RNA molecular weight assumptions and Avogadro's constant.
Formula used: DNA copies/µL = (C_DNA × N_A) / (template length × 10^9 × base weight), where C_DNA is in ng/µL.
Base weight options match common defaults: ssDNA = 330 Da, ssRNA = 340 Da, dsDNA = 660 Da.
The PCR section estimates copies after n cycles with N = i × 2^n, where i is initial copies and n is cycle count.
